About Us:

Spotlight Home and Lifestyle was founded by Garnet Northey in an effort to create a values based company that brings peace of mind to the renovation and restoration process.

Starting out in the construction business Garnet recognized a need for better communication skills and project and people management in the industry.  He went back to school, stumbled onto an industry that demanded meticulous planning, attention to detail and thoughtful resource management. Garnet enjoyed a very successful career in conference and event management for some of Ontario’s largest marketing services firms working his way into various senior management roles.

Having developed significant skills in managing large, multi faceted projects with budgets and resources to match it was time to move on and get back to what he truly loved – constructing, restoring and transforming homes for people and families – and getting back to that country lifestyle…

Garnet, his wife Julia and Drake the cat left the big city, spent a year researching and planning their new venture and came up with the name Spotlight Home and Lifestyle as it captured the essence of what customers wanted in a contractor – someone who would make their project a priority, communicate effectively, consider how the project would cater to their specific lifestyle and see it through to completion.

Four years later, the addition of Lado the dog and the business is thriving and growing based almost 100% on referrals from customers who appreciate being treated and serviced as a customer – the way it is supposed to be.

Garnet believes in being involved and giving back to the industry that supports his life goals and sits on the Board of Directors of the Peterborough and the Kawarthas Home Builders Association as Second Vice President and Director of their Renovation Council.

In the off hours Garnet spends his time creating life experiences with his wife, designing and building electric guitars, hiking with Lado the dog and enjoying his own Scandinavian scribed log home.
