Bathroom 2

This was a complete bathroom renovation and modernization that included the removal of all existing wallboard on the main floor in favour of new, paintable drywall surfaces. It was critical to this customer that all of the 50+ year old, solid cedar window and door casings, baseboards and crown mouldings (about 600 feet in total) be removed, damage free, and reinstalled after the drywall went up!

What we did:

• Removed existing fixtures and donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore
• Gutted entire bathroom - so long to the old bakelite tiles!
• Removed, catalogued and preserved all solid cedar millwork
• Removed old vinyl clad wallboard from main floor (two bedrooms, hallway, living room, kitchen and entry foyer)
• Remediated and properly disposed of black mold discovered behind walls in shower
• Installed proper vapour barrier on all external walls
• Installed, finished, and primed new drywall throughout (customer painted later)
• Installed cement board and drywall in bathroom
• Installed Schluter Kerdi and Ditra systems in bathroom to prevent any moisture penetrations to wall and floor substrates (no more mold)
• Tiled tub/shower walls and bathroom floor
• Installed new vanity and toilet
• Re-installed all cedar millwork to original locations
• Installed new millwork around kitchen to living room archway
