Young’s Point Bigger & Brighter

The vision for this project was to capture an unused second story deck and bring it into the building envelope through an addition. This would create another bedroom and the space for a bathroom on the second floor. A secondary need was to remove the cedar shake cladding that had turned black over the years and bring this home back to its original, prominent glory.

Through significant engineering and the willingness of the home owner to make a bold color choice this home is truly a stand out in the area.

What we did:

  • Designed a second story addition that is architecturally correct
  • Secured permits for construction, plumbing, electrical and septic
  • Relocated and installed a new larger septic system with pump chamber
  • Constructed addition as designed and approved
  • Engineering for second story structural needs
  • Removed all exterior cedar shakes
  • Installed new wood siding, soffits and fascia
  • Installed solid granite wainscoting to lower portion of exterior
  • Installed hand cut cedar shake roof to match existing on home
  • Stuccoed interior walls and tinted to match existing interior of home
  • Installed huge round window to match existing
  • Created and finished new full bathroom
  • Installed new hardwood and finished to match existing
  • Completed exterior landscaping and grading affected by septic relocation
